Hope’s 2010 Campaign

As a lifelong resident of Boerum Hill, Hope ran to become District Leader of Brooklyn’s 52nd Assembly District in the Fall of 2010.

In Hope’s Own Words

I am running for District Leader because I want to bring strength to the Democratic Party in the 52nd Assembly District. The 52nd AD covers DUMBO, Vinegar Hill, Brooklyn Heights, Boerum Hill, Cobble Hill, Carroll Gardens, Gowanus, Downtown Brooklyn, and Park Slope.

Over the past couple of years, I have seen my generation get involved in politics on the national level. However, we have been largely silent on the local level. Working for a local politician, I see the importance, significance, and power, of local elected officials. Working on local campaigns, I also know the value of local grass roots political movements. As a cohesive group, Brooklyn Progressives have the power to get solid, forward thinking democratic candidates elected on the local, state, and federal level.

As a young activist, I have been politically attuned and involved for a long time. I am confident I can engage my generation and effectively unite progressives to work together and build a strong Democratic Party in Brooklyn.”
